CIA plans its own app store
As the CIA dives deeper into the cloud solution being built by AWS, it has decided to use a commercial model and create an app marketplace.
Using an infrastructure built by Amazon Web Services, the CIA wants to open an app store that will launch with a few hundred applications, according to a Federal Times report.
CIA CIO Doug Wolfe described the app store at a Cloudera event. Cloudera is a partner with AWS on the CIA cloud services contract.
As the CIA looked at the cloud services from AWS, it realized that a marketplace for apps similar to the commercial world would best address its needs, Wolfe said.
