Booz Allen employee, daughter killed in Germanwings crash

A long-time Booz Allen Hamilton employee and her daughter were killed in the Germanwings airliner crash in the southern French Alps this week. They apparently were the only two Americans on the plane.

Yvonne Selke worked for Booz Allen for nearly 23 years and spent most of her career supporting the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, according to a company statement.

She was traveling with her adult daughter, Emily. The Associated Press reported that Emily Selke was a recent graduate of Drexel University in Philadelphia.

“Yvonne was a wonderful co-worker and a dedicated employee who spent her career with the firm supporting the mission of the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency,” said Betty Thompson, Booz Allen, executive vice president and chief personnel officer.

The company is in contact with her family to provide comfort and support and is providing support options to Yvonne Selke’s co-workers, Thompson said.

The crash of the Germanwings A320 plane is still under investigation, but a terrorist attack has been ruled out. It went down Tuesday as it flew from Barcelona, Spain, to Dusseldorf, Germany. There were 150 people on board.
