DHS plans strategic industry day
DHS is planning an industry day to discuss how its myriad of projects further the DHS Unity of Effort initiative launched by Secretary Jeh Johnson.
The Homeland Security Department on Feb. 9 opened registration for an upcoming industry day event where officials will discuss multiple programs and their impact on DHS’ Unity of Effort initiative.
DHS said it’s accepting a maximum of 300 registrants.
The Unity of Effort initiative was launched by DHS Secretary Jeh Johnson to mature DHS so that it can be “greater than the sum of its parts,” according to Federal Times.
In an April 22 memo, Johnson wrote that DHS leaders needed to improve planning, programming, budgeting and execution.
The industry day will be held Feb. 25 at the Ronald Reagan Building in Washington, DC.
DHS has named the event the Strategic Industry Conversation. At it, officials will deal with topics such as biometrics and data and storage management. Speakers will also discuss how research and development drives innovation in the federal government, according to a DHS announcement on FedBizOpps.
DHS plans for speakers in a general session and then topic-specific panels to highlight challenges and engage industry to find innovative approaches to solving problems.
