Navy official says Congress should cut acquisition regs

A top Navy official wants the new Congress to focus on reducing existing regulations as opposed to adding new requirements to federal acquisition rules, according to an FCW.com story.

The current acquisition environment is overly complex, said Sean Stackley, assistant secretary of the Navy for research, development and acquisition. He was speaking Jan. 7 at the Atlantic Council in Washington.

His comments reflect the growing agreement between Capitol Hill, the Defense Department and industry that acquisition processes are intolerably complex and are undercutting competitiveness with adversaries, FCW’s Sean Lyngaas reported.
