LexisNexis deal adds analytics to public safety offering
LexisNexis is making a deal for a company that brings more heft to its analytics offering for law enforcement agencies.
LexisNexis plans to buy BAIR Analytics in a move to improve the investigative solutions it sells to law enforcement agencies.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed; it is expected to close after regulatory review.
BAIR is located in Atlanta and develops analytics tools, mapping and visualization tools to identify and predict crime patterns, LexisNexis officials said in a statement.
The deal shows LexisNexis’ commitment to public safety, Haywood Talcove, CEO of LexisNexis Special Services, said in the statement.
The company will combine BAIR’s analytical capabilities with LexisNexis’ public records and linking technology to “add context to crime patterns and enhance our ability to identify and locate persons of interest,” Talcove said.
The idea is to help law enforcement officials make better decisions and close cases faster, he said.
“In an era of constrained budgets, analytics are essential to optimize limited resources and increase overall efficiencies,” Talcove said.
BAIR has been in business 20 years. Its software is used by police departments, government agencies and the private sector to promote community-oriented preventative policing, the company said in a statement.
