DISA looks outside the box for endpoint security solutions

The Defense Information System Agency is looking for the next generation of endpoint security.

In a new request for information, DISA wants ideas on the latest novel approaches to protect its networks, computers, and mobile devices. Officials are interested in current solutions but are open to ideas unlike those current approaches.

Approaches need to focus on enhancing operating system security solutions to counter the types of attacks most likely to happen and reduce exposed attack surface areas. The approaches also need to support both high and low agility environments, such as small IT networks and ships.

Officials described the ideal solution as an open-standard arrangement with specifications to manage any set of host-based security tools that support all major technology platforms. They want ideas that converge management of endpoint security operations to single console that supports large enterprise needs across multiple endpoint types.

As DISA’s RFI develops, a future acquisition would give preference to solutions committed to open standards and interfaces that multiple competing vendors can provide.
