DISA seeks small biz for 5-year Internet data processing program

The Defense Information Systems Agency intends to award a five-year contract in 2015 for Internet data processing and aggregation services, as part of its Information Volume & Velocity (IV2) framework.

Currently, DISA is seeking small businesses, such as service-disabled veteran-owned, woman-owned, and small disadvantaged businesses, that can provide open-source data that leads to a reduced cost to the government.

The DISA application is a cloud-based Service Oriented Enterprise used to order Internet data from various content providers. The providers are integrated into DISA’s application to gather data from open-source sites. The providers will gather data requests through a Representational State Transfer (RESTful) web service. They will then populate the result of the data request into DISA’s application in JavaScript Object Notation format.

DISA requires the open-source data to support various mission areas, such as extracting Internet data from blogs, news sites, forums, and various media formats; identifying and tagging formatted, and unformatted, Personally Identifiable Information and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA) data; satisfying a one-time data request and continuous data request that produce results over time; and gathering web content beyond the primary source, coping all the pages they visit, and delivering that data for later processing into the IV2 framework.

DISA released its sources sought notice Nov. 19. Responses are due by Dec. 9.
