Raytheon makes $420M deal for operations, cyber firm

Raytheon has acquired Blackbird Technologies in a $420 million deal that boosts Raytheon’s special operations capabilities.

Herndon, Va.-based Blackbird Technologies also increases Raytheon’s footprint in the intelligence community.

The company will become part of Raytheon’s Intelligence, Information and Services business, where it will expand Raytheon’s special operations capabilities in tactical intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, secure tactical communications and cybersecurity, the company said in a release.

"Blackbird expands Raytheon's already-established footprint in the intelligence community market while helping to grow our cyber operations and special missions support to the Department of Defense,” said Lynn Dugle, president of Raytheon Intelligence Information Services.

The acquisition also makes Raytheon one of the Special Operations Command's top industry partners, the company said.
