NOAA plans for $10M cloud IDIQ

National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration is considering a three-year, $10 million public cloud and infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contract.

NOAA wants an open and reliable technical solution that can be provisioned and managed to deliver basic IaaS capabilities on a public cloud infrastructure.

The IDIQ would have four service areas:

Virtual machines, such as server resources for running cloud-based systems that can be configured as needed.

Storage that is reliable and cost-effective and can be used for back-up services.

Network bandwidth, or data transfer, to allow NOAA to move its data between NOAA’s premises and public clouds.

Management capabilities and tools, including software, technologies and associated abilities that let users to operate and monitor resources within the cloud service areas.

The IDIQ would be awarded to a single FedRAMP-approved company. It would be a three-year contract, although some task orders may have option years.

NOAA released its draft statement of need to Nov. 7. Responses are due by Nov. 21.
