HP wins $116.5M contract for California prisoner management system

HP Enterprise Services has won a $116.5 million contract to continue to manage California’s Strategic Offender Management System.

Used by the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, the system streamlines business processes by consolidating legacy databases and converting inmate records to digital files, the company said in a release.

The system allows the department to coordinate offender information, case management plans and other inmate data in a single system for the first time and standardize state prison population management practices across California, HP said.

In addition to managing and hosting the system, HP will provide the department with disaster recovery and backup support of IT-enabled business processes to ensure business continuity in the event of a disaster.
