The plan to go through DISA was originally introduced by former DOD CIO Teri Takai, but was met with criticism that the department was not moving quickly enough.

While acting DOD CIO Terry Halvorsen still referred to DISA as the Defense Department’s cloud broker in a Sept. 23 conference, the new policy will allow the military services to acquire the capabilities that they want, FCW reported.
