The board’s current mainframe computer environment is based predominately on COBOL. Now though, it wants its legacy applications converted to Windows Azure, and the board is considering a private cloud.
Before the actual transition, the board is soliciting a contractor to gather details on the cost to do the reengineering to Microsoft. The board wants the contractor to create a blueprint for doing the transition and help in defining a statement of work for services and hardware and software associated to carry out the work.
The board released a solicitation for the planning work Aug. 22. Responses are due by Sept. 10.
