Energy plans for overhaul of business process management system

The Energy Department is asking for help as it revamps its business process management solution into an integrated web-enabled system.

The department’s Office of Science plans to use the solution, known as Portfolio Analysis and Management System (PAMS), to consolidate and streamline numerous parts of DOE’s financial assistance, interagency agreements, acquisition and other business processes. Officials want all those pieces on an integrated, web-based system.

The department intends to contract with a company for support in configuring and modifying the baseline electronic handbooks application software to meet particular requirements. Contract work also will include installing and configuring software in the Office of Science’s computing environment, training employees on usage, and maintenance.

The Office of Science has completed a preliminary rundown of work in a requirements definition document. Officials have not released the document because of the funding processes. Currently, the PAMS Change Request Registry includes more than 300 items and a backlog of more than 850 operational tickets and defects.

Officials plan to use feedback from companies to develop its acquisition strategy.

The department released a source sought notice Aug 7. Responses are due by Aug. 21.
