AF considers small biz support for command, control system

The Air Force is looking for small businesses to operate and maintain its unique command, control, communications, computer and intelligence system.

Currently, the 614th Air and Space Communications Squadron (ACOMS) at Vandenberg Air Force Base in California is considering a five-year, firm-fixed price contract for work with the IT infrastructure at the unclassified, secret and top-secret secure compartment information levels.

The infrastructure includes nine networks, more than 250 cryptographic devices, core network services, 88 command, control, communications, computer, and intelligence systems, six video teleconferencing suites, video display systems, and more than 360 client devices, monitors, and printers.

The contractor would have to provide around-the-clock service helpdesk support, material control and equipment custodial services, as well as services related to information assurances, knowledge management, and video teleconference administration.

The 614th ACOMS’ mission is integrating and protecting the cyber infrastructure for the world’s only Joint Space Operation Center. The JSPOC is a unique synergistic command and control weapon system. It focuses on planning and executing the U.S. Strategic Command’s Joint Functional Component Command for Space mission.

The Air Force released the source-sought notice Aug. 8. Responses are due by Aug. 29.
