Serco wins California parking enforcement contract

Serco has won a new $25 million contract for parking enforcement activities in the city of Inglewood, Calif.

The services include enforcement, management of parking meter operations and traffic control operations.

Work began at the end of June and will add 75 new jobs in the city. The contract is for 10 years and has options for two five-year extensions.

Other services include dispatch and customer services, scofflaw enforcement through the use of license plate recognition technology and operations and maintenance of the city’s 1,900 parking meters.

The company also will work with the city to overhaul current guidelines and performance standards to help make enforcement more consistent.

Englewood Mayor James Butts called out Serco’s efforts to build a partnership with the city as a deciding factor in picking them over competitors, according to the company’s press released.
