Lockheed wins $101.9M software award for Israeli F-35 fighters

Lockheed Martin Corp. was awarded a $101.9 million contract modification to work on software and logistics systems for F-35 fighters being purchased by Israel.
Lockheed Martin Corp. has won a $101.9 million contract modification to work on the mission systems software and logistics development for F-35 fighters being purchased by Israel.
The modification is for what the Defense Department calls “non-recurring engineering and sustainment tasks.”
The modification also allows Israel to purchase autonomic logistics hardware to support pilot training.
Autonomic logistics is a system Lockheed develop as the IT backbone for maintaining the F-35. It allows operators to plan ahead for the maintenance and sustainment of the aircraft, according to Lockheed’s website.
The contract was let through the U.S. Foreign Military Sales program.
