BAE, SAIC win $206M contract for amphibious vehicles design

BAE Systems Land & Armaments and SAIC have won Marine Corps amphibious vehicle contracts worth up to nearly $206 million.

The two companies are being tasked with design and development services for the improvement of the Marine Corps Legacy Assault Amphibious Vehicle Personnel Carrier Variant Platform.

The initial value for the two contracts is a combined $27.8 million, though the contracts include options which, if exercised, could boost the total value to between $163.5 million and $206 million.

Work is expected to be completed February 2015. If all options are exercised, work will continue until September 2019.

Funds in the amount of $27.8 million was obligated at the time of the award, with just over $8 million expiring at the end of the current fiscal year.
