GD Land Systems wins $74.7M contract to upgrade Cougar vehicle defense

General Dynamics Land Systems has won a $74.7 million contract to support the Marine Corps’ mine resistant, ambush protected (MRAP) program.

The MRAP program supports vehicles, making them armored enough to withstand IED attacks and ambushes.

Under the contract, General Dynamics will develop, design and product 916 egress upgrade kits for Cougar vehicles, which are infantry mobility vehicles characterized by their MRAP capability.

The kits will upgrade the Cougar’s front and rear doors, rear steps and exhaust system, the company said in a release.
