Northrop, Sierra Nevada win $90M counter IED contracts
Northrop Grumman and Sierra Nevada Corp. have won a $90 million contract to support counter IED efforts for the Navy.

The two companies will provide the Navy with counter radio-controlled improvised explosive device electronic warfare Marine Expeditionary Unit Special Operation capable dismounted systems.
This contract is part of a program called the CREW MEU SOC program, which addresses an urgent and compelling need for a capability to counter the threat of IEDs, the Defense Department said in a release.
The contractors will deliver five initial production systems each for testing under the first delivery orders and the remaining 360 production systems and contract requirements will be competed for each subsequent delivery order, the Defense Department said.
Work will be performed in Sparks, Nev. and Herndon, Va., and is expected to be completed in February 2019.
Funding in the amount of $11 million is obligated at the time of the award, and will expire at the end of fiscal 2014.
Two bids were received for this contract.
