Contractors cry foul ahead of CMS fraud contract
CGI Federal and HealthDataInsights are both protesting a Centers for Medicaid and Medicare contract that is still going through the source selection process.
CGI Federal and HealthDataInsights Inc. have both filed pre-award protests of a Centers for Medicaid and Medicare contract to stop improper payments.
A CMS spokesman said the request for quotes has been issued for the Recovery Audit Contractor and said the procurement will be used to ferret out and collect overpayments and underpayments under Medicare Part A and B.
The contract under protest is for CMS’s Region 4, which includes most of the southeast United States.
The spokesman said HealthDataInsights is the incumbent contract on the current recovery work.
The protests were filed Jan. 31 with the Government Accountability Office, and the decision is due May 12.
The CMS spokesman declined to comment on the ground of the protests, and the two companies were not available to comment, either.
