GD wins $7.5M contract to support USS Carter Hall

General Dynamics NASSCO has won a $7.5 million contract to provide support to the USS Carter Hall, a ship that supports amphibious landings.

General Dynamics NASSCO has won a $7.5 million contract to support to the USS Carter Hall, a Navy ship that supports and launches amphibious craft and vehicles as well as personnel.

Under the contract, General Dynamics will provide dry-docking for planned maintenance.

Services will include dry docking, modernization, upgrades, repairs and alternations to multiple shipboard systems such as the engineering control systems, power management platform and chilled water distribution systems for the LSD-class amphibious landing ship, the Defense Department said.

Work will be performed in Norfolk, Va., and is expected to be completed by April 2015.

Funding in the full amount of the contract is obligated at the time of the award, and will expire at the end of fiscal 2014.
