Accenture takes over HealthCare.gov work
CMS made it official: Accenture takes over the prime contractor role on HealthCare.gov as CGI Federal transitions out.
It’s official: Accenture will take over the troubled HealthCare.gov website from CGI Federal.
The company announced the $45 million, one-year contract over the weekend.
“We are honored to be part of the team of technology and healthcare companies and government professionals helping the federal government meet the healthcare coverage needs of its citizens,” said David Moskovitz, chief executive, Accenture Federal Services in a statement.
The government and CGI decided to part ways when CGI’s contract expires next month. No options on the contract were exercised. CGI has found itself on the firing line as the HealthCare.gov site stumbled badly with its launch in October.
Accenture’s role will be to provide support services to the Federally Facilitated Marketplace, or FFM, to prepare it for open enrollment in October. Support includes 24-hour support of application, eligibility and enrollment functions. Among other services is the generation of enrollment forms and features related to special enrollment periods, according to Accenture’s announcement.
The company says it was picked after the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services reviewed more than a dozen other companies.
Accenture also will play a role in defining requirements for future phases of the program’s implementation.
