SRA’s Ballhaus talks strategy after recent group consolidations

 Last week, SRA International realigned its business groups and tapped new leaders for the consolidated groups.

The company merged four business groups into two; its Defense group combined with its Intelligence, Homeland Security & Law Enforcement group to create the National Security Group, and its Civil Government and Health Groups combined to form the Health and Civil Group.

In the process of creating its new National Security and Health and Civil Groups, SRA tapped two leaders—George Batsakis to lead National Security, and Paul Nedzbala to lead Health and Civil.

“We made these changes to further enhance our competitiveness, focus and positioning to meet the needs of our federal customers.," SRA CEO Bill Ballhaus told Washington Technology. "Through the consolidation, we’ve created additional capacity to invest in our people and technical differentiation in the IT and professional services that we provide our customers."

It’s important to remain competitive in today’s difficult market, and realigning groups and cost infrastructure, as well as bringing the best technologies and solutions to the customer is the way to do that, Ballhaus said.

In addition to consolidating groups and tapping new leaders for them, SRA International named Pat Burke to the role of chief technology officer.

Burke serving as CTO “strengthens the leadership of our technical enterprise and our standing as a technology thought leader,” Ballhaus said.
