TechAmerica loses four top lobbyists

Four top lobbyists for TechAmerica have resigned, and are expected to join a rival trade group, the Information Technology Industry Council, or ITI, according to the Huffington Post.

ITI raised $50,000 from each of its members to bring on the new team, which includes Trey Hodgkins, Erica McCann, Pam Walker and Carol Henton. These four departures add to the more than 75 clients that TechAmerica has lost since July, and the more than dozen lobbyists that the organization has lost since the middle of last year, the Huffington Post reported.

The departures pose a threat to TechAmerica’s ability to advocate for its members’ interests on Capitol Hill, especially given that its advocacy team now has been reduced to three lobbyists, the Huffington Post reported.

With its new members, ITI has launched a new initiative called the Information Technology Alliance for Public Sector, which will promote federal, state and local government understanding and procurement of technologies, while fostering an enabling regulatory environment for access to such technologies. Trey Hodgkins will serve as the sector’s senior vice president, ITI said in a release.
