TASC names new CEO

TASC has picked new CEO, replacing David Langstaff, who had led the company since 2011.
TASC Inc. has named John P. Hynes Jr., president and CEO of TASC, replacing David Langstaff, who had led the company since 2011.
The company declined to comment beyond its press release on the sudden leadership change.
Hynes, who worked for TASC from 1990 to 2001, and then rejoined the company as senior vice president in 2011 before becoming chief operating officer, thanked Langstaff and praised his service to the company.
“During David’s tenure, TASC has enhanced its range of capabilities, strengthened its talent pool and shown tremendous adaptability in helping customers balance complex mission needs with affordability challenges,” Hynes said in the statement.
Langstaff had helped negotiate the spinoff of TASC from Northrop Grumman in 2009, and had served as chairman of the company until becoming CEO.
He also was the CEO of Veridian, which he built through the 1990s and early 2000s before selling the company to General Dynamics in 2003.
In addition to working at TASC, Hynes was an executive at Science Applications International Corp. and served eight years in the U.S. Navy. He has a bachelor’s degree from the U.S. Naval Academy and master’s degree from George Washington University.
