Four win NVTC innovator awards

The Northern Virginia Technology Council picked four winners in four categories for its annual Innovator Awards, recognizing companies that have made a significant positive impact on the region’s technology community.

The winners were announced during NVTC annual TechCelebration banquet Wednesday night.

The winners and finalists for the 2013 Innovator Awards were:

Agile Systems Development

• Agilex (Winner)
• Dovel Technologies
• Noblis
• Northrop Grumman
• Octo Consulting Group

Agilex was selected because the company developed an integrated methodology to help federal agencies capitalize on smartphones and tablets, and more than a dozen agencies have engaged the company, capitalizing on this methodology to deploy mobile devices with custom-build applications across their enterprise operations, NVTC said in a release.

Cloud

• BrightContext (Winner)
• Exostar
• Parature
• SAP
• ScienceLogic

Brightcontext was selected because it is a versatile, easy-to-use, ultra-scalable, cloud-based data stream processing platform that can be used for stream analytics, live visualization, monitoring and generating alerts from any high-volume data source, NVTC said.

Cyber

• Invincea (Winner)
• nPulse Technologies
• PhishMe
• SAIC
• SourceFire

Invincea was selected because it brings to the market a new technology for combatting cybercrime, nation state attacks and hacktivist attacks, and one that is capable of detecting and killing malware even when it has not ever been seen before, NVTC said.

Mobility

• Mobile System 7 (Winner)
• Agilex
• AirWatch
• LATISTA Technologies
• Natural Insight

Mobile System 7 was selected because it secures enterprise data and mitigates the risks posed by threats like compromised mobile devices and malware. Its Interlock product utilizes powerful credit card-like analytics to identify and understand the context of individual requests for enterprise data and services, NVTC said.
