Lockheed Martin wins $49M in options for Aegis support
Lockheed Martin has won a $49 million contract with the Navy to provide engineering and assurance efforts toward the Aegis combat system. Work includes configuration management, quality assurance and operation and maintenance.
Lockheed Martin Mission Systems and Training has won a $48.8 million in options for engineering and assurance efforts for Aegis development and test sites.
Under the options, Lockheed will provide the Navy with technical engineering, configuration management, quality assurance, information assurance and other operation and maintenance efforts.
Aegis, which means shield in Greek, is a command and control system that uses computers and radars and other systems to track and guide defensive and offensive weapons.
Work will be performed in Moorestown, N.J., and is expected to be completed by June 2014.
Funding in the amount of $13.7 million is obligated at the time of the award, and will not expire at the end of fiscal 2013.
