Boeing subsidiary wins $300M UAV contract
Insitu Inc. has won a $300 million contract with the Navy to provide operational and maintenance services for the Special Operations Command's ScanEagle UAV.
Insitu Inc. has won a $300 million contract with the U.S. Navy to provide hardware and operational and maintenance services.
These services will be provided in support of the ScanEagle Unmanned Aerial Systems.
The ScanEagle is a small UAV built by Insitsu, which is a subsidiary of Boeing Co. It is operated by the U.S. Special Operations Command.
The hardware and services to be provided under the contract include replacement air vehicles, spare and consumable parts, and in-theatre field service representatives to supplement naval special warfare operators, the Defense Department said.
Work will take place in Bingen, Wash., and is expected to be completed by September 2016.
Funding in the amount of $85 million is obligated at the time of the award, and will expire at the end of fiscal 2013.
