Abt Associates has won a $2.9 million contract with the Justice Department to collect, evaluate and manage federal justice statistics.

Under the contract, the company will collect and analyze offender-level data from the DEA, U.S. Marshals Service, U.S. Attorney’s Office, the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts and the Federal Bureau of Prisons.

Abt will link improve these different sources of data and improve their accessibility and credibility to support policy-relevant data analyses and research, and then will evaluate the information to facilitate policy discussions concerning federal criminal case processing, Abt said in a release.

“This award to support the Federal Justice Statistics Program (FJSP) will allow Abt Associates to provide the Justice Department and the Courts with a deeper, more comprehensive look at how offenders are moving through the criminal justice system—from the point of arrest to release—to inform policy decisions,” said Gail Robinson, Abt vice president and director of the company’s Behavioral Health Practice.
