Lockheed nabs $35M energy contract with State Department

Lockheed Martin has won a $35 million task order with the State Department to deliver energy savings capabilities to the U.S. Embassy in Managua, Nicaragua.

The task order was awarded under the Energy Department’s Energy Savings Performance Contracts vehicle, which allows agencies to accomplish energy savings by financing them through third-party loans that are paid back from the savings made by energy efficiency projects.

Lockheed’s energy savings capabilities will help the embassy reduce greenhouse gas emissions and reliance on foreign energy by more than 50 percent, the company said in a release.

Under the contract, the company will install one megawatt of solar photovoltaic generation, lighting upgrades and controls, chiller plant upgrades, building automation system optimization and transformer upgrades, Lockheed said.
