Deadline set for FEMA training contract

FEMA has a contract in the works for an online training contract that will support its Center for Domestic Preparedness, including prep work for terrorist attacks.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency has released a solicitation for a company to build an online training system for its Center for Domestic Preparedness.
The center has a facility in Anniston, Ala., used for training state, local and tribal emergency responders for a variety of hazards, including terrorist attacks. Training courses cover deterrence, response, mitigation and recovery.
The value of the contract is not in the solicitation. The contract has one base year and four one-year options, according to the RFP.
Responses are due Aug. 7. The solicitation number is HSFE20-13-Q-0058.
Tasks under the contract will include developing a learning content management system, which is used to manage online training courses and materials. About 30 course and content authors will use the system, but that number could grow to 100. The system will need to handle 2,000 concurrent users.
The type of training offered includes fire service, law enforcement, emergency medical service, public health, government administration and public communications.
The solicitation includes some quick delivery items, such as two platform workshops for 10 students within 45 days of the contract start date and a train the trainer workshop for 10 students, also within 45 days. Both courses will be held at the Anniston, Ala., facility.
The solicitation document also includes a dress code document.
