Accenture wins $42.2M contract for Air Force financial management system

Accenture Federal Services has won a two-year $42.2 million contract with the U.S. Air Force to continue working on the service’s financial management system.

This contract supports the second phase of continued development activities for the Defense Enterprise Accounting and Management System, also known as DEAMS.

Under the contract, Accenture will help the Air Force reach compliance and auditability goals mandated by the Office of the Secretary of Defense for all programs, and will support the installation of DEAMS to additional bases, Accenture said.

DEAMS is the Air Force’s principal financial transformation initiative, integrating data and processes across the Air Force, the U.S. Transportation Command and the Defense Finance and Accounting Service.

The system streamlines cost accounting, purchase requests, accounts payable, financial obligations and collections and customer billing.

It currently manages around $800 million in monthly billings and cash collection, and processes more than 100,000 invoices annually for the Air Force, Accenture said.

DEAMS is operational at Scott Air Force Base, Ill., McConnell Air Force Base, Kan., and Defense Finance and Accounting Service centers in Limestone, Maine, and Colombus, Ohio.

When fully implemented, the system will replace nine stove-piped legacy systems with one integrated financial system, saving the Air Force around $18 million annually in operating costs, the company said.
