Who won April's biggest contracts?

Looking at April’s contract round up, you’d hardly believe that contractors are beginning to be impacted by sequestration.

Just as with March, to make April’s list, you had to have a contract in the $150 million and above range.

Washington Technology covered 45 contract awards in April, a hefty increase over the 30 in March, and a significant increase over the 13 in February.

April was also remarkably good for small businesses, with small business contract awards making up three of the 10 contracts this time around.

So, starting at No. 10, the countdown for the fourth month of the calendar year went like this:

10. 5 win $184M contract NIH IT support

Five contractors have won a five-year, $184 multiple-award contract to provide information technology support services to the National Institutes of Health's National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute .

The winners are:

• Science Applications International Corp.
• Booz Allen Hamilton
• Paragon
• Sapient
• SRA International

Under the contract, the five companies will compete for task orders to support the NIH National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, specifically its IT and Applications Center.

9. Lockheed Martin nabs $217M contract to deliver joint information environment

Lockheed Martin has won a $217 million contract to deliver information technology support services to the Defense Department Chief Information Office in order to better allow warfighters to share secure information.

The company will provide IT equipment, software development tools and other services necessary to support the office in matters related to IT, information assurance and information management, the company said in a release.

8. SAIC nabs $228M IT consolidation contract with Sandia National Labs

Science Applications International Corp. has won a five-year, $228 million contract with Sandia National Laboratories to provide mission computing and information technology services in support of the Energy Department.

The single-award contract has a five-year base, and one two-year option.

The company will provide mission-specific information technology research, development and integration of capabilities while maintaining high-performance and central hosting computing, desktop services and cybersecurity, SAIC said in a release.

7. 10 small businesses win $250M C5ISR contract with Navy

Ten small business have won a $249.6 million task order contract with the U.S. Navy for command and control enterprise information services.

The companies are:

• Atlas Technologies Inc.
• Ausgar Technologies Inc.
• By Light, Professional IT Services Inc.
• Cambridge International Systems Inc.
• Case LLC
• DKW Communications Inc
• Dynamic Network Enterprises
• KinetX Inc.
• Professional Software Engineering Inc.
• Trace Systems Inc.

The cost-plus-fixed-fee contracts, which have provisions for fixed-price-incentive and firm-fixed-price task orders, are performance-based, and have a base value of $49.9 million.

6. DynCorp wins $388.5M Army field maintenance contract

DynCorp International has won a $388.5 million contract to provide aviation maintenance services to the U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Life Cycle Management Command.

Under this Army Field Maintenance contract, which is firm-fixed-price and cost-plus-incentive, DynCorp will provide services throughout the Regional Aviation Sustainment Maintenance – West Region, which includes forts in Texas and Kansas.

5. 4 win $404M DISA IT support contract

Four small businesses have won a five-year, $404.1 million contract to provide support services to the Defense Information Systems Agency’s IT Enterprise. And one task order worth $111.3 million has already been awarded to one of them.

The four companies on the DISA IT Enteprirse Support Services or DESS contract are:

• HighAction LLC, Fairfax, Va.
• Soft Tech Consulting, Chantilly, Va.
• Chameleon Integrated Services, St. Louis\
• NOVA Corp., Chambersburg, Pa.

4. 9 win $675M contract for acquisition support

Nine small businesses have won a $675.1 million task order contract with the Air Force to provide acquisition support advisory and assistance services to Air Force Life Cycle Management Center’s PEO-directorates and functional support offices

The winners are:

• Odyssey Systems Consulting Group Ltd.
• Business Technologies and Solutions Inc. 
• ADNET Systems Inc.

3. CenturyLink wins DISA's $750M DREN III contract

CenturyLink has won a 10-year, $750 million task order contract with the Defense Information Systems Agency to solve complicated and time-consuming problems with parallel computing and high-speed networking.

This contract, known as the Defense Research and Engineering Network III contract, was awarded by DISA’s Defense Information Technology Contracting Organization.

Under the contract, CenturyLink will provide a high-speed, fiber-optic network that connects the department’s supercomputers and researchers at speeds that range from 50 megabits to 100 gigabits per second, the company said in a release.

2. 15 win $900M Navy C5ISR contract

Fifteen contractors have won a $899.8 million task order contract with the Navy to for support services for interoperable command and control systems.

The winners are:

Some of the work the companies will compete for include development and engineering of tactical data links, integration of command and control systems with weapon systems and support for decision making process.

1. Air Force makes NetCents 2 awards, now what?

The U.S. Air Force finally made its second attempt to award the $6.9 billion NetCents 2 Products contract.

They named eight contractors as the winners of round two:

• CounterTrade Products Inc., Arvada Colo.
• FedStore Corp., Rockville Md.
• General Dynamics IT, Needham Mass.

• World Wide Technology Inc., Maryland Heights Mo.
