Harris nabs $45M contract for DHS tactical communications networks

Harris Corp. has won a $45 million contract to support the Homeland Security Department’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement tactical communications networks.

The contract was awarded through the department’s five-year, $3 billion Tactical Communications task order contract vehicle.

The company is teaming with Computer Sciences Corp., as well as other subcontractors, to provide technical support for the frontline operations of around 15,000 law enforcement officers, the company said in a release.

"Harris and its teammates will sustain legacy systems and provide cost-effective, interoperable services for those who depend on reliable communications," said Wayne Lucernoni, president of Harris IT Services.

Work will be performed at a number of locations in the United States, as well as in Puerto Rico and in the Virgin Islands.
