Concurrent Technologies wins expansion of energy, environment technology contract

Concurrent Technologies Corp. has won a $15 million increase to a contract it held with the U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory for energy and environment.

The original contract was awarded back in June 2009, and had a ceiling of $98 million. With the increase, the contract is now valued at $113 million.

The company helps the laboratory with its mission of transition emerging materials, processes and new technologies to reduce and eliminate toxic and hazardous chemicals, materials and waste streams, CTC said in a release.

Under the contract, the company has so far identified new technologies and conducted technology assessments, demonstration/validation, design, optimization and technology transition in the two primary technology areas of energy and environment, the company said.

“This $15 million award is comprised of Air Force Advanced Power Technology Office and the U.S. Army Tank Automotive Research, Development and Engineering Center funding and establishes CTC as the lead design and integration organization on the Department of Defense Plug In Electric Vehicle Program,” said Mark Ray, CTC Air Force Research Laboratory program manager.

The electric vehicle program is designed to reduce the cost of vehicle fleet requirements while enhancing the military’s mission capability, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and decreasing petroleum consumption, the company said.
