Agencies want OMB to let them reprogram dollars
Now that the 2013 spending bill is completed, agencies have been submitting requests to the OMB to reprogram funds, softening the effect that sequestration would have on them.
The Homeland Security and Defense Departments, among others, are about to or have already requested that the Office of Management and Budget to let them reprogram funds that would soften across-the-board cuts under sequestration, according to Federal News Radio. These requests are being submitted now that the 2013 spending bill is completed.
The Office of Management and Budget did not disclose a list of how many or which agencies have already requested the reprogramming, Federal News Radio reported. The Homeland Security Department has been forthcoming with how they are planning on buffering the sequestration cuts, though. Their reprogramming request will try to minimize the effect that sequestrationcuts would have on Border Patrol agents, including overtime cuts and furloughs.
