Raytheon restructures its business units

Raytheon has combined its Intelligence and Information Systems and Technical Services businesses to form a new business called Intelligence, Information and Services. The company also shifted some other pieces of business into its other three business units in a move to streamline its businesses and increase productivity.

The realignment dissolves the Network Centric Systems business operations with its pieces being moved into the other units.

The company is now comprised of four units:

• Intelligence, Information and Services
• Integrated Defense Systems
• Missile Systems
• Space and Airborne Systems

The new structure of the company takes effect April 1.

“Our new structure will help us enhance productivity, agility and affordability in a challenging defense and aerospace market environment,” said William H. Swanson, Raytheon Chairman and CEO.

Along with the restructuring, Raytheon’s board of directors have named Thomas A. Kennedy executive vice president and chief operating officer, where he will lead the company’s consolidation efforts, while managing day-to-day operating activities. He will also provide direct leadership to the company’s business presidents.

He was previously vice president of Raytheon, and president of Integrated Defense Systems.

Taking his place in that role is Daniel J. Crowley, who will now serve as president of Integrated Defense Systems, which will now include the new product lines of C4I Systems and air traffic management.

Taking the reins at the newly formed Intelligence, Information and Services business is Lynn A. Dugle. She was the leader of the Intelligence and Information Systems group. Supporting Dugle as vice president and general manager of the newly formed business is John D. Harris II, who was formerly the president of Technical Services.

Missile Systems will continue to be led by Taylor W. Lawrence, and it will now include Raytheon UK, as well as Combat & Sensing Systems.

Space and Airbone Systems will also see no change in leadership, with Richard R. Yuse continuing to lead the business, which will now include Integrated Communication Systems and Advanced Programs.
