American Systems has promoted Joe Kopfman to the position of executive vice president of contracts and administration, and chief compliance officer.
Kopfman had been overseeing contract and administrative functions, and the executive vice president and chief compliance officer titles are new ones for the company. He also will lead the company’s ethics and mergers and acquisitions programs.
The company’s culture is centered on ethics, and “I appointed Joe to this newly created position … in order to elevate this core even more with our internal and external stakeholders,” said William Hoover, American Systems president and CEO.
In November, American Systems completed the acquisition of the test and evaluation business from Science Applications International Corp., and Kopfman’s leadership “made it one of the smoothest transactions I have ever experienced,” Hoover said.
Kopfman joined American Systems in 1978. He is a graduate of Radford University, and a member of the executive advisory council of the National Contracts Management Association, and is active with the Professional Services Council.
