Lockheed names new leaders for IS&GS, space systems

Find opportunities — and win them.

Two top executives at Lockheed Martin, Linda Gooden and Joanne Maguire, announce their retirements. The company names Sondra Barbour and Rick Ambrose as replacements.

Lockheed Martin Corp. is saying good-bye to two of its top leaders, including Linda Gooden who was executive vice president of information systems and global solutions.

Gooden is retiring, as is Joanne Maguire, executive vice president of space systems.

Effective April 1, Sondra Barbour will become executive vice president of information systems and global solutions, known as IS&GS. Rick Ambrose will become executive vice president of space systems.

A Lockheed Martin spokeswoman said Gooden and Maguire have been planning their retirements and felt this was the best time to make the move.

“They are retiring at a time when their businesses are performing well and their successors are prepared to maintain that high level of performance," said Jennifer Whitlow of Lockheed Martin

The changes in leadership come during the first month of Marillyn Hewson taking the reins as Lockheed Martin’s new CEO.

She praised both Gooden and Maguire for their contributions to the company. “Both are distinguished leaders whose vision, expertise and unwavering commitment to performance excellence have positioned Lockheed Martin for continued success,” she said in a statement.

Under Gooden's leadership, IS&GS remained the top provide of IT services to the federal government and was ranked No. 1 on Washington Technology's Top 100 list of the largest government contractors for 18 straight years.

As the new leader of the IS&GS segment, Barbour is a 26-year veteran of Lockheed Martin, and is currently senior vice president and chief information officer of the company. She worked in the IS&GS business for 20 years and helped Gooden define Lockheed’s cybersecurity business, the company said.

“These new leadership assignments demonstrate the value of our robust succession and leadership development programs,” Hewson said. “Rick and Sondra are talented, well-rounded and experienced business leaders, and I am confident that they will help us remain focused on delivering for our customers and growing the business.”
