Sierra Nevada Corp. wins $56.5M contract for electronic warfare systems

Sierra Nevada Corp. has won a $56.5 million contract with the U.S. Army Contracting Command for the production of electronic warfare systems worn by soldiers to counter remote controlled improvised explosive devices.

Know as individual counter radio controlled improvised explosive device electronics warfare systems or ICREW, the equipment is worn by individual soldiers, providing a small zone of protection around the individual soldier while patrolling on foot, the company said.

Under the contract, 3,900 systems will be delivered.

The systems are commonly referred to as “Baldr” systems. Work will be performed at the company’s electronic warfare and range instrumentation business, located in Folsom, Calif., and at its Sparks, Nev., manufacturing facility.
