American Systems wins $56M communications contract

American Systems Corp. will help the Army Reserve Command stay connected to the Voice & Secret Internet Protocol Router Network known as SIPRnet.

The work is through a $56 million task order won under the GSA Connections II contract.

The fixed-price contract is for two and a half years, and work will be performed at 900 Army Reserve locations across the United States, including the command headquarters at Fort Bragg, N.C.

Services that American Systems will provide include operations, administration and maintenance, including systems support, billing, circuit provisioning, and service desk and lifecycle support. The company also will be implementing voice-over IP.

One goal of the work is to use new technologies to improve the Reserve’s infrastructure, which should reduce costs and improve service, American Systems said in a statement.
