5 Top 100 firms compete for work under Navy contract

Five large contractors all won technical services contracts of various amounts with the U.S. Navy.

Details on the winners and contract values with all options are as follow:

• Northrop Grumman Corp. – $64.7 million
• DRS Technical Services Inc. -- $63 million
• Booz Allen Hamilton -- $56.7 million
• Science Applications International Corp. -- $54.8 million
• General Dynamics Corp. -- $48.4 million

Companies will compete for task orders under this contract, which is cost-plus-fixed-fee. Its period of performance is two years, and includes three option years.

These contracts call for program and configuration management, technical services, systems engineering, hardware and software development, material analysis, testing, repair and installation services.

All of these services will go toward projects for autonomous and non-autonomous systems, as well as maritime intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance and information operations enabling technologies, according to a Defense Department announcement.

Contract funds will not expire at the end of fiscal 2013. Five offers were received for this contract, all of which were awarded.

The Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center Pacific, San Diego, Calif., is the contracting activity. All the contractor are ranked on Washington Technology's 2012 Top 100 list of the largest government contractors.
