Boeing inks partnership for Japanese cyber initiative

Boeing Co. is trying to push deeper into the Asian market by forming a partnership with Sojitz Corp. to protect critical infrastructures.

The companies have agreed to work together to offer advanced cybersecurity solutions in Japan in order to help protect critical government, civil and commercial IT infrastructures, Boeing said.

“This agreement further strengthens Boeing's 60-year relationship with Japan as we and Sojitz work together to meet the country's growing need for information and infrastructure protection,” said Bryan Palma, Boeing vice president, Secure Infrastructure Group.

Boeing will provide network and data analysis tools, cybersecurity training and simulation platforms and network protection solutions. The company will provide training to support Japan’s need for more cybersecurity experts.

Sojitz will contribute its Japanese market expertise, IT professionals and strong local partnerships.

"Boeing has advanced technologies and an impressive history in cybersecurity," said Koichi Yamaguchi, Sojitz general manager of aerospace. "Sojitz and Boeing will offer complete solutions to help defend Japan’s information technology infrastructure from sophisticated, evolving and persistent cyber attacks."
