33 win spots on Army's $23.5B Eagle contract

The Army has begun making awards for its $23.5 billion Eagle logistics contract, with 33 companies named to the contract so far.

The contract, technically a basic ordering agreement known as the Enhanced Army Global Logistics Enterprise program, will be used for moving equipment in and out of theater, resetting equipment so it is ready for deployment, training troops, inventory, services and parts availability.

The companies will compete for task orders. The first task orders will be issued after Oct. 15.

More awards are expected, according to the Army announcement, and will be rolled out over the next several weeks.

The Army also is working on another solicitation under the Eagle program, called Step Two. It is for what the Army is calling emergent and additional requirements. The Army also is telling bidders who fail to get on the first round of contracts by Oct. 1 to give notice if they are interested in Step Two. They need to give notice between Oct. 1 and Oct. 5.

The Army said it is unlikely all the awards for the first part of Eagle will be made by Oct. 15.

Work will be done at the Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Ala., Afghanistan and Kuwait.
