Unisys wins $139M IRS private cloud contract

Unisys Corp. has won a $139 million contract from the Internal Revenue Services for private cloud-based storage.

As part of the deal, Unisys will buy storage assets now owned and managed by the IRS. The company will manage 7.5 petabytes of storage currently spread across multiple IRS data centers and facilities, the company said in an announcement.

The contract was awarded under the General Services Administration’s Alliant contract. It has a one-year base and nine one-year options. Each year’s pricing is based on how much storage the IRS estimates it will need. The agency will only pay for the storage capacity it needs.
