Harris to build major wireless network for VA
Contract will create one of the largest health care mobility infrastructure deployments in the world.
Harris Corp. will create a major wireless network infrastructure for medical centers nationwide under a two-year, $19 million contract from the Veterans Affairs Department’s Office of Information and Technology.
Harris will design, install, validate and provide training for a secure wireless infrastructure to accommodate the voice, video and real-time-location-services necessary for mobility, according to the company’s news release today.
With all options exercised, Harris will deploy this infrastructure to 26 customer sites as part of one of the largest healthcare mobility infrastructure deployments in the world, the June 5 announcement said.
The Harris team includes subcontractors Advanced Management Strategies Group, Synaptek Corp. and TL Services Inc.

"It will be a crucial element in ensuring those who serve our nation's veterans have access to mission-essential data where and when they need it."
The award comes under the VA Transformation Twenty-One Total Technology contract vehicle.
Harris Corp., of Melbourne, Fla., ranks No. 13 on Washington Technology’s 2011 Top 100 list of the largest federal government contractors.
