CSC will implement a cloud software-as-a-service solution for the FAA’s Enterprise Messaging System.
Computer Sciences Corp. will provide the Federal Aviation Administration with a cloud software-as-a-service solution under seven-year contract with an estimated total value of $91 million.
The contract calls specifically for CSC to implement a cloud software-as-a-service solution for the FAA’s Enterprise Messaging System, according to a June 7 CSC announcement.
CSC will provide Microsoft Office 365 in Microsoft’s secure cloud environment, a solution that includes comprehensive email, collaboration, messaging, legal eDiscovery and other office applications.
These applications will meet the FAA’s objective of being able to access data any time and any place from virtually any device in a cost effective way.
As a result, CSC will transition 80,000 users across multiple email systems to the Microsoft Office 365 system.
The contract was awarded in response to the Office of Management and Budget’s “Cloud First” initiative to integrate flexible and scalable services wherever possible.
With a diverse workforce and broad mission, the FAA’s move to a consolidated cloud service will significantly improve productivity and communications across DOT and FAA operations, the announcement said.
