BAE promotes 2 to boost business, productivity

BAE Systems Inc. has promoted Tom Arseneault to executive vice president of product sectors and chief technology officer, succeeding Bob Murphy, who left the company last month, a BAE announcement said today.

Arseneault most recently served as president of electronic systems, one of the four sectors that comprise BAE Systems.

As executive vice president of product sectors, Arseneaul will lead the development and implementation of integrated business strategies to support the sector.

In the newly created role of CTO, he also will oversee research and development and the application of technology to meet customers’ ever-changing needs and help generate timely, cost-effective solutions, the announcement said.

In addition, Larry Prior, currently executive vice president of the service sectors, has been named COO.

Since joining BAE Systems in 2010, Prior has helped grow the company’s cyber and intelligence businesses and improved readiness and sustainment services for defense customers.

In his expanded role as COO, he will drive operational productivity, agility, cost efficiency and effectiveness throughout the business, which remains critical to BAE Systems’ future success during a time of shifting priorities in the U.S. and across global defense and security markets.

Arseneault also joins Prior and President and CEO Linda Hudson as members of the BAE Systems’ Executive Committee.

BAE Systems, of Arlington, Va., ranks No. 17 on Washington Technology’s 2012 Top 100 list of the largest federal government contractors.
