ITT Exelis joins 5 Fairfax contractors on Fortune 500
In its first year as an independent company, ITT spinoff ranks No. 422 on list of top revenue-producers.
ITT Exelis, which was spun off from ITT Corp. as a publicly traded company Oct. 31, 2011, has already cracked the Fortune 500 list, according to the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority.
Ranked No. 422 based on annual revenue in 2011, the newly independent McLean, Va., defense contractor becomes the sixth government contractor based in the Northern Virginia county to be included in the magazine’s list of the 500 largest publicly traded companies in the United States.
The county has more companies on the prestigious list than 34 states, the May 16 FCEDA announcement said.
