Government spending makes DC a tech capital
Forbes names the Washington area as the second-best city for tech jobs.
Thanks in no small measure to federal contracting spending, the Washington, D.C., metro area ranks No. 2 as the nation's second-best city for tech jobs, according to Forbes magazine.
The new report ranks the nation's 51 largest metropolitan areas with Seattle heading the list and Baltimore ranking No. 5.
The publication attributed DC's growth to a surge in government spending that has led to a 20.6 percent jump in tech employment since 2001. The complete list is available here.
